Richard Peck was a sensation at the annual Joint Book Club Luncheon held at Manasota beach Club on Monday, February 1. The Key’s most avid readers enjoyed his reading in person so much, and the few that had not read his books left for home to begin scouring the library and internet for copies. His impeccable wit and choice of stories to write are all relatable.
The Washington Post refereed to Peck as the best living author for young adults. I have to say I am no young adult, but he captured my attention in his book from their first sentences to their last. Mr. Peck was invited by Marianne Schaefer and to great surprise was a fellow student of one of Manasota Key’s residents, Judith Dees. Showing us again, it is a small, small world.
